I’ve been teaching computers for the last year and in all that time haven’t found a bulletproof way to keep my students from peeking at the keyboard while learning to touch type. Haven’t found, that is, until I happened on Das Keyboard at ThinkGeek. The keyboard has a bunch of bells and whistles but I loved the idea of unlabeled keys.

So, I hit Wal Mart and bought black spray paint suited for plastics. With a roll of masking tape in hand and a few sacrificial keyboards, I started spraying.

The results were wonderful and I wrote about them in Black Keyboards: Faster Learning on Touch Typing.
